This simple but revolutionary concept holds the potential to reshape financial markets, offering opportunities for retail investors, asset managers, and financial institutions to access and trade assets in a novel way.
The process of RWA tokenization converts the rights of various assets, such as equities, bonds, real estate, and commodities, into blockchain-based digital tokens. The benefit to investors is enhanced liquidity, clear evidence of ownership, and increased transparency. Ownership is recorded on the blockchain, creating clear records of ownership and immutability. Investors can then trade tokens on secondary markets, introducing liquidity to previously illiquid assets.

This enhances security and reduces the risk of fraud and disputes since the ownership history of the tokens is readily available. The transparent and immutable ledger also gives token holders quick access to investment information, enabling transparency into cash positions and investment performance.

To get there, investment managers must adapt and embrace new ways of doing business to maintain competitiveness.
